Cavs star scored 35 points against the Boston Celtics as his side advanced to meet the Golden State Warriors once more
LEBRON JAMES made history on Thursday night as he led his Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals.
The Ohio star, 32, scored 35 points as the Cavs breezed past a helpless Boston Celtics 4-1 in the best-of-seven series.
In doing so, however, he broke a record set by the one and only Michael Jordan – notching the most points in Playoffs history.

En route to securing Game 5 135-102 in Boston, James overtook MJ’s tally of 5,987 postseason points to reach 5,995.
After the game at the TD Garden James paid homage to Jordan, saying: “I wear the number because of Mike.
“I think I fell in love with the game because of Mike, seeing what he was able to accomplish.
“When you’re growing up and seeing Michael Jordan, it’s almost like a God.
“I didn’t ever believe I could be Mike. I started to focus myself on other players and other people around my neighbourhood.
“I never thought I could get to a point where Mike was. I think that helped shape my game.”
While LeBron needed more games to reach the total points at 212 compared to Jordan’s 179, he did so at a younger age AND on fewer shots.
James averages an incredible 28.3 points per game, compared to MJ’s 33.4, yet the Akron ace did so three years younger.
And LeBron continued to praise Jordan for the impact on his own career, adding: “I did pretty much everything that MJ did when I was a kid.
“I shot fadeaways before I should have. I wore a leg sleeve on my leg and folded it down so you saw the red part.
“I wore black and red shoes with white socks. I wore short shorts so you could see my undershorts underneath.
“I did everything Mike did. I even wore a wristband on my forearm.
“I didn’t go bald like Mike, but I’m getting there.”
James’ Cleveland Cavaliers will now face Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals for a third season in a row – LeBron’s seventh after four straight at the Miami Heat.
The Cavs recovered from a 3-1 series deficit to stun the world and win 4-3 a year ago, to avenge the 2015 4-2 series loss.
