Lifeguard strike averted in Longueuil, public pools to remain open – Montreal

A tentative settlement was reached between the Metropolis of Longueuil and the union representing over 250 lifeguards on the South Shore.

Particulars of the deal have but to be made public till it has been handed by union members and metropolis officers.

The union had introduced a strike for Monday, which might have pressured the closure of 25 public swimming pools and 21 wading swimming pools all through Longueuil’s municipalities and neighbouring Charron Island.

The union confirmed the cancellation of the strike to its members following Friday’s deal.
