Because of this Malaysia is such a cool place to reside in!
Simply yesterday (27th Could), a netizen named Mohd Fuzaimie took to Facebook to share how a non-Muslim man and woman waited for fellow Malaysians to break fast before eating. They could’ve dived into their food, but they chose to wait, out of respect for the Muslims.
According to the post, Fuzaimie said the Chinese uncle had asked him if Muslims can eat at 7pm, and the heartwarming exchange was described as follows –
“We (Muslims) can only eat at 7.10pm but for uncle, you’re free to eat now. The uncle then said, ‘It’s okay, I can wait, we eat together’.”
Although Fuzaimie tried to persuade the uncle to start eating, he insisted on waiting. It was understood that they waited for 15 minutes along with the Muslims to buka puasa and enjoy the meal together. “Thank you for respecting us as Muslims and Malays,” Fuzaimie added.
Many netizens applauded the uncle for being thoughtful and considerate. Sure, most Muslims are fine with people eating around them but the act of waiting for everyone to break fast together just shows the true spirit of Malaysians! We need more heartwarming stories like this!
