    A tourist who fearlessly attempted to ward off a knifeman as he hacked at young children throughout a rampage in a French park has actually been a hailed a hero.

    Known just by his given name, Henri, he was shot fearlessly chasing after the aggressor and waving his rucksack at him in a quote to keep him far from the kids.

    The 24- year-old was circumnavigating France going to different towns and historical websites like cathedrals when the attack took place.

    He informed French news outlet Cnews: ‘What I understand is that I was not there by possibility. On my Chemins des Cathedrales (cathedral trip) I crossed courses with this male. I responded intuitively. I did not believe.

    ‘To me, it was unthinkable not to do anything. I reacted how every French person should. Which means, I followed my instinct and did everything I could to protect the weak.’

    In videos Henri is revealed to be using a rucksack on his back and bring another bag.

    The aggressor attempts to slash him with a knife as he chases him, and Henri waves the bag he is bring at the knifeman.

    In another video Henri, using dark grey pants and a dark-coloured tee shirt is seen chasing after the aggressor throughout some yard in the park.

    Translated to English, the trainee published to his Instagram story on Thursday night: ‘Thank you for all your messages of assistance!

    ‘My ideas are with the victims and their moms and dads.

    ‘ I hope that they will make it through this.

    ‘The experience does not stop.

    ‘We will meet again soon.’

    Hundreds of individuals flooded his Instagram and Facebook remarks to thank him for his efforts and call him a hero.
