MANCHESTER CITY believe they have beaten Bayern Munich in the race for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.
City have been busy in the opening stages of the transfer window after signing Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva for £43million and are closing in on Benfica keeper Edison.
And now Goal are reporting that director of football Txiki Begiristain travelled to London to begin talks over a deal for Sanchez.

Bayern have been seen as the front runners for Sanchez and were reported to be lining up a £50million bid for the Chilean.
And the German giants will also give the former Udinese striker around £10million-a-year in wages.
But City have the added draw of tempting Sanchez with a reunion with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola.

Arsenal are still keen on keeping the striker and are ready to offer him and team-mate Mesut Ozil a combined £30m-a-year in wages.
It is understood Sanchez’s representative has flown to Germany to hold preliminary talks with Bayern to find out what kind of deal will be on the table.
Yet Arsenal remain determined to do everything they can to keep their man – including coming up with a package that will make him one of the Premier League’s highest paid players.
A key issue for both players was the future of under-fire Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
But with the club having already agreed to another two years under the Frenchman, the Gunners are confident their two top stars will also commit.
