MATIAS SILVESTRE has scored both a goal and an own goal in a single game for not one, but two clubs.
The own goal howler is the second occasion that Silvestre has committed the football crime this calendar year.
The Serie A player has set a record thanks to his exploits in today’s meeting between Frosinone and Empoli, but for all the wrong reasons.
Silvestre gifted Frosinone the opener with his own goal in today’s six goal thriller between the Italian clubs.
But, the comical own goal was rectified by putting the ball in the correct net exactly forty minutes later.
With just eight minutes on the clock, a lack of communication at the back led to Silvestre prodding the ball into his own net.
His first attempt at the correct end saw him hit the cross bar just before half time.
But he cancelled out his howler at 48 minutes when he bundled a corner over the line at the back post.
The 34-year-old was the butt of a lot of jokes online, with one football fan joking that the Argentinian was a machine having scored for four different teams in one calendar year.
Silvestre only moved to Empoli from Sampdoria this summer, but can now claim to have achieved the goal feat for both clubs in the same year.
Today’s clash was a repeat of last season’s Serie B meeting, as the two teams had been promoted this summer.
Last season, both of their games were also six goal thrillers.
