Get all the info to bash the bookies as ITV’s Matt Chapman runs you through a busy Thursday
WEDNESDAY was a washout for most at York with only Shutter Speed coming home for this blog, and although she was arguably a big price she was still very short.
Obviously for Thursday we look for soft ground lovers on ITV4, as it has to be testing even if the weather improves.

The 2.20pm is a 5f handicap, and I’ll have a few quid each-way on GAMESOME, who has a poor strike rate but who has run two good races this season and likes a bit of juice.
It might just be that Pat Smullen can get the best out of him.
Next up is the Group 2 Middleton, and Queen’s Trust and SO MI DAR should dominate.
Queen’s Trust has a decent run on soft to her name, but she has to give 3lb to So Mi Dar which sways me in favour of the Gosden runner.
So Mi Dar remains one of the most exciting prospects in training.

It’s the Group 2 Dante at 3.30pm, and I’ll back WOLF COUNTRY each-way. What this colt does is stay strong and go with juice in the ground.
That might be enough to at least get in the frame for Charlie Appleby and William Buick.
Matt Chapman’s TV Tips
- 2.20 York – Gamesome
- 2.55 York – So Mi Dar
- 3.30 York – Wolf Country
- 4.05 York – Donncha
Finally there’s a near 1m handicap on ITV4 at 4.05pm. DONNCHA is a horse who drives me mad, but again he’s got Smullen on board and soft ground is no problem.
They might go hard here and he might just pick up pieces.
So best of luck. Let’s hope we have some Yeeehaaas.
