An alternate on the U.S. females’s gymnastics group evaluated favorable for the coronavirus simply days prior to the Tokyo Olympics was set to start, American Olympic authorities stated Monday.

The gymnast, who authorities did not openly determine, evaluated favorable while training for the video games in Narita, about 35 miles east of Tokyo, according to city authorities. She is in between the age of 10 and 19. A declaration from U.S.A. Gymnastics stated the professional athlete evaluated favorable on Sunday and she and another alternate member of the group were quarantined.

After showing up in Japan on Thursday, the gymnasts remained in their travel lodgings and practiced in locations, however did not hang around in the city, according to the city. Another staff member who was determined as a “close contact” of the gymnast has actually been put “on standby.”
