Mick Schumacher looking to make his mark in F3 as he discusses living with the weight of such a legendary name
MICHAEL SCHUMACHER’S son claims he feels no pressure about following in his father’s footsteps.
Budding racer Mick has been making big waves in Formula 3 after making his debut at Silverstone this month.
But he has to contend with the shadow of father Michael, who helped himself to an astonishing SEVEN championships as a Formula One superstar.
The German continues to recover from the infamous skiing injury which left him in a coma over three years ago.
But Mick is confident he can take the mantle without any difficulties stemming from his surname, telling Canal Sport: “I think it gives me a lot of opportunities. It’s my name, I cannot change it.
“I love driving, that’s why I do it and not because of my name. I feel no pressure, maybe that’s what some would like but I do what I have to do, I pilot and that’s it.”
Speaking to Handelsblatt, Mick added: “I think I’m not ready for that (Formula One) yet. I prefer to do things my way, and I still have to prove myself as a driver.
