MICHAEL SCHUMACHER’S son claims he feels no pressure about following in his father’s footsteps.

But he has to contend with the shadow of father Michael, who helped himself to an astonishing SEVEN championships as a Formula One superstar.



The German continues to recover from the infamous skiing injury which left him in a coma over three years ago.
But Mick is confident he can take the mantle without any difficulties stemming from his surname, telling Canal Sport: “I think it gives me a lot of opportunities. It’s my name, I cannot change it.

“I love driving, that’s why I do it and not because of my name. I feel no pressure, maybe that’s what some would like but I do what I have to do, I pilot and that’s it.”
Speaking to Handelsblatt, Mick added: “I think I’m not ready for that (Formula One) yet. I prefer to do things my way, and I still have to prove myself as a driver.

“I still have to make progress. I’m playing my first season in F3 this year. My goal is to learn and be the best rookie of the championship this year.
“Currently, I still lack regularity. My goal is to win in two years. My goal is to fight against the best drivers in the world, and they’re in F1.”
