The city of Minneapolis is banding together following the news that Derek Chauvin was condemned of murder in George Floyd’s death.
On Tuesday, April 20, the Hennepin County Court revealed the jury’s decision, discovering the previous Minneapolis Police Officer guilty of second-degree unintended murder, third-degree murder and second-degree murder for the death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020.
Although Chauvin will be sentenced at a later date, he deals with an optimum of 40 years in jail.
The Minneapolis locals rallied together to commemorate the life and tradition of Floyd. Many held up indications that read “Justice for George Floyd” and “Black Lives Matter.” Others welcomed each other and appeared conquered with feeling.
Additionally, Floyd’s sweetheart, Courtney Ross, collected around the neighborhood, using a “Rest in Power” t-shirt in honor of her sweetheart. When talking about Floyd in a live interview with HLN, she stated, “He changed my world. He changed the world. He changed everybody’s.”
