MOHAMED SALAH has got his claws stuck into a protest against exporting stray cats and dogs to countries where they are eaten.
The Egyptian government has been forced to deny sensational claims that they have authorised over 4,000 animals to be sent to places where they are seen as delicacies.
Salah, 26, has come out fighting against the reports and uploaded a picture to social media alongside his feline friends.
He captioned the image: “Cats and dogs will not be exported anywhere. That’s not going to happen.”
Salah is regarded as a national hero in Egypt and has over 28million followers across Twitter and Instagram.
When quizzed on whether the reports over the animals are true, a spokesman for the Egyptian Agriculture Ministry quoted them as “baseless.”
Salah has previously shown off his love for cats and uploaded a topless picture of him stroking one in October.
While his furry friend looks relatively cute, the same can’t be said for Cristiano Ronaldo’s £2,600 cat.
The bald sphynx looks even scarier than Ronaldo’s old United team-mate Roy Keane in his prime.
Meanwhile Salah is preparing for Liverpool’s biggest game of the season so far as they travel to Paris Saint-Germain for their Champions League encounter.
Just two points separate Napoli at the top and Red Star Belgrade at the foot of the table with two matches remaining.
Liverpool are reportedly sweating on the fitness of winger Sadio Mane who is understood to have been struck down by illness.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to assess him closely today before making a final decision on his involvement.
