Theory #2: S.W.O.R.D. supervises.
S.W.O.R.D. is a department of S.H.I.E.L.D. that has, in the comics, had to do with area: Sentient World Observation and Response Division. Here, the W appears to represent “Weapon,” which includes an entire brand-new significance and might be describing Wanda as a “sentient weapon.”
There’s a S.W.O.R.D. sign on among the screens in the control space and Monica/Geraldine might have been sent out in to keep an eye on and assist keep tabs on Wanda. It would be frustrating to discover this entire thing has to do with an exceptionally effective female who can’t manage her feelings so she locks herself away or gets locked away as a weapon. That story becomes part of it, for sure, however we’re hoping there’s a little bit more to it than that.
