Two-time champion to return to SW19 in emotional comeback after she was stabbed by intruder in her home
TWO-TIME Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova is set to play at SW19 this summer – less than seven months after suffering career-threatening injuries in a knife attack.
And she could even return to action at the French Open which begins later this week.
She has made a faster than expected recovery after she was attacked by an intruder in her home last December.

Czech star Kvitova needed four hours of surgery to repair damage to her left hand – her dominant hand – after tackling a man who forced his way into her apartment in Prostejov.
Katie Spellman, the player’s publicity manager, told Reuters: “She is on track for Wimbledon.
“She will make a last minute decision this week about Roland Garros.”
Kvitova, 27, won Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014 and will be on the official entry list for this year´s Championships, which will be released tomorrow.
A statement from Wimbledon said: “The AELTC is always pleased to welcome former champions back to Wimbledon, and would be delighted if Petra Kvitova is able to compete in The Championships this year.
“We wish her well with her ongoing preparations to return to competition.”
Although Kvitova has not played since the Fed Cup Final on November 12, she is still the world No 16 and so would be seeded for both the French Open and Wimbledon.
The Czech tennis star said she was “fortunate to be alive” after the attack last year that lacerated all four fingers of the left hand.
Kvitova was attacked at around 8.30am on December 20 by a man who gained access to her apartment block by posing as a utilities man, before holding a knife to her throat.

In pulling the knife away, Kvitova sustained injuries to tendons in all four fingers and the thumb on her left hand. She said she was “shaken, but fortunate to be alive”.
Doctors had said at the time the “best-case scenario” was that Kvitova could be playing tennis again within six months.
At the time, Kvitova’s representatives issued a statement on the tennis star’s behalf saying the tennis star felt “fortunate to be alive”.
It read: “Thank you for all your heartwarming messages today. As you may have already heard, today I was attacked in my apartment by an individual with a knife.
“In my attempt to defend myself, I was badly injured on my left hand. I am shaken, but fortunate to be alive.
“The injury is severe and I will need to see specialists, but if you know anything about me I am strong and I will fight this.”
