PIERS MORGAN has been brutally trolled by Australia stars David Warner and Steve Smith after the hosts wrapped up victory within the Second Check on Wednesday.

The journalist – and big cricket fan – has been very outspoken throughout this winter’s collection… with the Aussie pair ruthlessly gloating after the win in Adelaide.

Morgan shared a screenshot of a direct message despatched to him on Twitter by Australian captain Smith and opening batsman Warner, displaying the pair smiling after the win.

Not protecting the shameless crowing to himself Morgan shared the picture, which he captioned: “When Aussies sledge you in your DMs…

“Congrats chaps @davidwarner31 @stevesmith49, you’ve undoubtedly had the final snort.

“PS are you able to each tread on a ball within the warm-up at at Perth? #ashes”

Earlier within the day, instantly after England’s loss, Morgan had pleaded with the Aussie skipper to go straightforward.

Captioning an image of Smith laughing, he tweeted: “Don’t, @stevesmith49 – simply DON’T. #ashes”

England went into day 5 of the day-night Check hoping to finish their implausible work from the earlier night.

Chasing an unlikely 354 to win, Joe Root‘s males kicked off the day needing one other 178 runs, with six wickets in hand.

From there, it was as good as over as Australia stormed to a 2-0 series lead in the first session of the day.

Root’s men were bowled over for 233 all out… with fans – including Morgan – left frustrated by the manner of the defeat.

Following the end of the game, Morgan tweeted a quote from The Shawshank Redemption, which read: “Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.”
