Pope Francis on Monday officially enabled females to function as readers at liturgies and as change servers, in a decree that explained that these functions are different from the all-male priesthood.

In the decree, called “Spiritus Domini” (The Spirit of the Lord), the pope stated he had actually taken his choice after doctrinal reflection.
