York and Newbury come under the spotlight as Templegate tries to find a host of winners on a busy Friday
THROW a few quid at DARTMOUTH in the Betway Yorkshire Cup (3.30).
Sir Michael Stoute’s hope won his first three races last season and is proven over the trip and on the easy ground.

2.20 YORK: Follow the Main attraction in this juvenile sprint.
MAIN DESIRE won easily on her debut at Nottingham a couple of weeks ago. She looks smart and her pedigree gives me plenty of hope she’ll handle the soft ground.
Formidable Kitt showed stacks of pace to make all the running at Newmarket. The conditions might just blunt that speed.
French raider Kentish Waltz is an interesting contender but a high draw is rarely ideal over this track and trip.
2.35 NEWBURY: I fancy CLEAR SPRING to complete a hat-trick of wins in this race.
The ground has come right for John Spearing’s speedster and he’s lower in the weights than when landing this prize 12 months ago.

2.55 YORK: Get swept away with the Breeze. DANCING BREEZE look a smart filly when making a winning debut at Newmarket last month.
That success came on fast ground but there are plenty of horses in her pedigree with form on softer going.
Princess De Lune charged clear to score by four lengths at Newbury on her debut. She’s clearly useful and looks sure to improve but conditions must be a worry.
Sibilance is unbeaten in two races – both on the all-weather. Her smooth Kempton success came after the best part of a year off the track but the form is not particularly strong.

- 2.35 Newbury – Clear Spring
- 2.55 York – Dancing Breeze
- 3.30 York – Dartmouth
- 4.05 York -Burguillos
3.30 YORK: DARTMOUTH should hit the bullseye in the Yorkshire Cup. He won first time out last season and went on to land Chester’s Ormonde Stakes over today’s trip.
He also won the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot and finished third in the King George. My fancy clearly sets the standard and the easy ground won’t be a problem.
Muntahaa – fourth in the St Leger – has always promised to develop into a smart stayer.
He gamely won a Newbury Group 3 on fast ground last month and has always be considered at his best on softer going. John Gosden’s hope is the main danger.
Last year’s winner Clever Cookie has a great record at this track. That gives him a chance but this looks a much deeper race than the one he landed 12 months ago.
