Doncaster, Sandown, Perth, Huntingdon and Chepstow come under the spotlight as Templegate gives you his best bets for the day
BOW down before MONARCHS GLEN in the Bet365 Classic Trial (2.55) at Sandown.
John Gosden’s hope bolted up in an all-weather handicap at Kempton a couple of weeks ago and looks well up to this level.

1.50 SANDOWN: ATTY PERSSE looks up for the Esher Cup.
He was well backed before making an impressive debut when beating a subsequent winner over today’s course and distance in September. A tilt at the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy was mentioned after the race so it’s not hard to imagine he’s well weighted for this handicap.
This son of Frankel looks a class act and I fancy him to overcome his inexperience.
First Up ran well in some hot turf maidens behind the likes of Rivet and Zainhom before breaking his duck on the all-weather.
Colibri and Jupiter Light are another couple of maiden winners in with a shout.
2.20 SANDOWN: ROYAL ARTILLERY should gun down his rivals.
He has only had five races and he progressed well last season. His defeat of subsequent Group 3 scorer Scottish at Haydock was a nice effort but he bettered that on his final start when third to Champion Stakes hero Almanzor in a French Group 2 in August.
It’s not hard to expect him to be even better this year.
Deauville won an American Grade 1 last summer but I’m sure that’s not top-class form compared to British races. He had earlier finished second in the Dante before finishing well beaten in the Derby and maybe he is better suited to US racing.
Last year’s winner My Dream Boat went on to beat Found in the Group 1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot. The drying ground is his main worry.

2.55 SANDOWN: John Gosden should strengthen his Classic hand with MONARCHS GLEN.
He won a Goodwood maiden last season and he made a stunning return to action in a Kempton handicap. Like many of Frankel’s kids he raced freely but he was still way too good for his rivals.
There’s a chance he’ll be taken on up front by Frankuus but that doesn’t bother me too much.
Mark Johnston’s hope landed a French Group 3 last season but he’s more exposed than my fancy.
Cunco – another son of Frankel – came up short in Listed races after making a winning debut.

3.30 SANDOWN: Take a chance on TASHWEEQ.
He looked a good prospect a couple of years ago when landing a Doncaster Listed contest before finishing fourth in the Dewhurst.
Injury kept him off the track last season but John Gosden has made a blistering start to this term so he shouldn’t lack too much fitness.
Kool Kompany made a winning comeback in the Doncaster Mile. He had some smart form a couple of years ago and is likely to improve for his successful return. But that race set up for him and, while he clearly has a sound chance, he is no superstar.
Dawn Of Hope was third at Doncaster. She is a progressive filly but she does need to take another fairly large step forward.
