Revolver likely used by Van Gogh sold at Paris auction



PARIS (AP) — A revolver believed utilized by Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh to kill himself has offered for about $146,000 at an public sale in Paris.

A person purchaser whose identify was not launched purchased the 7mm pocket revolver for 130,000 euros plus taxes on Wednesday.

The weapon was found within the 1960s in fields within the northern French village of Auvers-sur-Oise. Van Gogh is broadly believed to have shot himself within the chest there in 1890.

The household of former house owners of the inn the place the painter died two days later determined to promote the revolver after it was featured in a 2016 exhibit at Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum that charted his descent into psychological sickness.

Van Gogh’s suicide was questioned in a ebook by Pulitzer Prize-winning authors who concluded he was fatally shot by two youngsters.
