RICKY HATTON tried – and failed – to show off his muscle in a Manchester nightclub on Sunday night with a set of press-ups on a sofa that went wrong.
The former IBF, Ring, and lineal light-welterweight title champion had been to watch Hughie Fury’s loss to Joseph Parker on Saturday.
And he kept the party going with a trip to Neighbourhood, the celebrity nightclub in Manchester where Tyson Fury also partied with fans.
Hatton fancied a late-night work-out by doing press-ups with his hands and feet propped up on the arms of a luxurious sofa.
But the boxing trainer was dropped early on in the attempt and went face-first into the cushion.
The once-unified ace was infamous for piling weight on in between his brilliant fights and he wore an inflatable sumo-wrestler suit to play up to his Ricky Fatton nickname.
The 38-year-old suffered respectable defeats to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather at the tail end of his scintillating career.
And he struggled with life after boxing following a comeback loss to Vyacheslav Senchenko in 2012, after a three-year long retirement.

However, the fans’ favourite is building a strong stable as a trainer and promoter with Ferocious Darryll Williams holding the English super-middleweight title and Nathan Gorman a rising heavyweight.
British hero Hatton has never lost his sense of humour and had Twitter in stitches with a recent exchange with Laura Simpson who got Wayne Rooney arrested over a lift home.
The Man City fan wrote: “You couldn’t by any chance pass my number over to the prolific Laura Simpson. Because I seem to be the only one she’s not gone for.”
And the party girl replied to the Etihad regular, saying: “Lol this is comedy.
“Wrong profession Rick sorry #banter this is a joke btw before it’s a story tomorrow.”
