MANCHESTER CITY are reportedly ready to wait until next summer to sign a new midfielder.
ESPN claims Pep Guardiola is interested in signing Wolves playmaker Ruben Neves.
The Spaniard has also been keeping tabs on Ajax ace Frenkie de Jong.
City dipped into the transfer market last winter to bring in Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao.
They also tried to land Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, before his Manchester United switch forced their attention to Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez.
However, Guardiola is said to be wary about strengthening in January for a second straight season.
He is apparently happy with City’s balance and competition for places.
Guardiola tried to sign Jorginho from Napoli in the summer as competition for Fernandinho.
But the Italian opted to join old boss Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea, forcing City to experiment with new options.
John Stones, Danilo and Oleksandr Zinchenko have since been highlighted as candidates for the ‘quarterback’ role, and Guardiola is adamant he has enough options in the position to get him to the end of the season.
