Ron Howard is recreating the painful 2018 Thai cavern rescue.
In the very first trailer for Prime Video’s Thirteen Lives, Colin Farrell, Viggo Mortensen and Joel Edgerton play the specialist cavern scuba divers who saved 12 soccer gamers and their coach from the flooded Tham Luang cavern system in Thailand.
As the males plan their dive, Colin’s character John Volanthen alerts, “It looks easy but when it’s flooded, it’s impossible.”
And their objective to conserve all 13 individuals is made even more hard by non-stop rain and high water levels, which avoid the young boys from swimming out of the cavern. The just method the scuba divers can eliminate the young boys securely was by sedating them and swimming through the cavern with their bodies, one by one. As among the males states, “It’s insane. It’s unethical. It’s illegal.”
But eventually, it was their only option. While one scuba diver from the Thai Navy SEALs passed away throughout the rescue and another passed away from a blood infection more than a year later on, all 13 of the young boys were conserved 18 days after they initially got in the cavern.
