The tennis superstar gave birth to her first child earlier this month but revealed in a touching Instagram post that she and her baby girl had been kept in hospital for ‘six or seven days’
SERENA WILLIAMS has shared a heartwarming picture cuddling her newborn daughter.
The tennis superstar gave birth to her first child on September 1 and named her Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
The daughter is named after the father, Williams’ partner Alexis Ohanian, who founded Reddit.
Williams is one of the most successful tennis players of all time, clinching 23 Grand Slam titles.
And she has been dating Ohanian for the last few years, firstly in secret, before they announced their engagement in December.

The 35-year-old shared several videos showing the story of her pregnancy on Instagram after giving birth, showing her journey from ultrasound, baby bump selfies and assembling a nursery.
According to reports in the US, the new baby girl weighed 6lb 14oz and the entire floor of St Mary’s Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida, was cleared to make way for Serena as a security measure and to help maintain her privacy.
Williams, who has won seven Wimbledon titles, went public with her pregnancy in April, admitting she played the Australian Open knowing she was due to give birth.
The American said during an Instagram clip: “So we’re leaving the hospital after six, seven days.
“It’s been a long time, but we had a lot of complications, but look who we got – we got a baby girl!”
Williams said earlier this year: “Two weeks after we found out, I played the Australian Open.
“I was playing in 100-degree weather and the baby never gave me any trouble.”
She also revealed she had planned to give birth via epidural.
Williams said: “I know a lot of people are against it, but I’ve had surgeries galore and I don’t need to experience any more pain if I can avoid it.”
The New York ace also admitted she planned to come back into the sport, despite being in her mid-30s.
