U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi provided remarks in Armenia on Sunday to reveal assistance for the country in the wake of fatal clashes with surrounding Azerbaijan.
In an interview, Pelosi highly condemned “illegal and deadly attacks by Azerbaijan” and included that the violence “threatens prospects for a much-needed peace agreement.” She stated the U.S. is seeing the scenario carefully and continues to support a worked out settlement.
Fighting in between Armenia and Azerbaijan broke out today as part of a decades-long standoff over the Nagorno-Karabakh area. The clash marks the most significant escalation of the dispute considering that 2020, when the 2 countries taken part in a war over the area that left thousands dead.
