A suspected drunken driver went again to his burning automobile Sunday to strive lighting his cigarette utilizing the flames, in response to the CHP.
Amy Walker with the CHP says Robert Quigley, 25, rear-ended an SUV that was stopped in site visitors on westbound Interstate 80 simply west of Antelope Highway. On the time of the crash, Quigley was driving round 75 to 80 mph.
A CHP officer noticed the automobile after it burst into flames and rotated in site visitors to assist. As he did, he noticed Quigley change seats together with his feminine passenger. Quigley later admitted to the officer that he was behind the wheel on the time of the crash.
A witness informed officers a shirtless Quigley went again to his burning automobile to gentle his cigarette, singeing a part of his eyebrows off within the course of, in response to Walker. Quigley later informed the officer on the scene, “Yeah I’m not afraid of fireplace. I take care of this type of stuff on a regular basis.”
Walker says Quigley sustained a burn on his neck from his seatbelt. Nobody else was injured within the crash.
