Pictured Shareef Amin. A British army veteran nicknamed 'RAMBO' by his pals is raising money to return home after surviving bullet and shrapnel wounds in a terrifying battle with Russian troops. See SWNS story SWNJrambo. Former soldier Shareef Amin, 40, was repeatedly hit by Russian bullets before being blown off his feet by artillery fire in battle alongside his Ukrainian comrades. After being buried under the body of his fallen friend, he eventually managed drag himself out of a trench and was rescued despite suffering horrific wounds. Though not a Ukrainian, Shareef was one of the first answer the call for it's defence after Vladimir Putin launched his now failing invasion in February. The two-time Afghanistan veteran offered his combat skills and first aid training from the Afghan war to help train Ukrainian civilians to defend their homeland.
