A wrongful dying lawsuit filed this 12 months by the dad and mom of U.S. faculty pupil Otto Warmbier in opposition to North Korea is now searching for greater than $1 billion from the federal government the Warmbiers say tortured and killed their son.
Fred and Cindy Warmbier, of suburban Cincinnati, sued in April in federal courtroom in Washington. North Korean authorities arrested their son in January 2016 for stealing a propaganda poster. He was sentenced to 15 years in jail.

The 22-year-old died in 2017, days after he was repatriated to the U.S. with extreme mind harm.
The Cincinnati Enquirer studies a movement filed in October within the lawsuit seeks $1.05 billion in punitive damages and about $46 million for the household’s struggling.

North Korea has repeatedly denied the accusations that it tortured Warmbier.
