OAK HARBOR, Ohio — The Trump administration is saying what it calls a significant growth of looking and fishing within the nation’s protected wildlife refuges.
U.S. Inside Secretary David Bernhardt mentioned Wednesday the plan impacts 1.four million acres (5,666 sq. kilometers) of federal public lands, together with 74 nationwide wildlife refuges.

The division says it’s about increasing entry to those lands. It expects to finalize the plans by September.
The plan would additionally permit looking and fishing for the primary time at 15 nationwide fish hatcheries.

Bernhardt made the announcement on the Ottawa Nationwide Wildlife Refuge alongside Lake Erie in Ohio.
