‘Negativity creeps in’

Former world heavyweight champ’s situation changes day by day and he could yet return, says corner man

TYSON FURY could still fight again and his decision to apparently retire could be down to his depression, says uncle and trainer Peter Fury.

The former heavyweight champion of the world dropped a bombshell yesterday by saying his career was at an “end”.

However, Fury has “retired” in the past so the latest example should be taken with a pinch of salt.

And Peter, who was slammed by Tyson yesterday for posing in “p***k” David Haye’s gym, insists the future is far from certain for the Gypsy King.

He told talkSPORT: “You never know what tomorrow brings with Tyson.

“Tyson is Tyson. he has gone through some bad patches and some negativity does creep in, but I am sure he will be OK.

“I think when you have got a little bit of depression and stuff like that, you have to be around positive energy and positive people.

“He needs to sit back and realise about the people that have been there and really care about him rather than people whistling all kinds of c**p down his earhole.

“You need that desire there. What Tyson did was not really appreciated that much.”

Tyson has not fought since dethroning Ukrainian heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.

And Peter believes that Tyson feels he never got the recognition he deserved for doing in Germany what Anthony Joshua did in front of 90,000 at Wembley in April.

Peter added: “From what he achieved over there he feels like his performance was downbeaten in some respects.

“Has he achieved what he really wants to achieve and he hasn’t got that desire there anymore?

“Is it negativity, is it depression? Whatever it is he should be really happy with his achievements.”
