U.K. journalists take cover after being ‘tracked, targeted and fired upon’ by Syrian forces – National



Sky Information journalist Alex Crawford and her digital camera crew have been focused by Syrian forces whereas protecting the battle within the Idlib province, based on dramatic video of the journalists being shot at.

Crawford wrote in an article for Sky Information that she and her staff of 5 journalists had been filming a burning armoured car within the city of al-Behavior when a bullet hit the machine.

The crew stated army drones have been first used to pinpoint their location.

“We had all of the sudden turn into the brand new targets,” she wrote. She added that the information staff was clearly recognized as press when the assault occurred.

Crawford, her producer Martin Vowles and two Syrian activists started operating again to their car to take cowl. One of many two civilian activists who have been with the information crew on the time of the assault was hit with shrapnel and later taken to hospital.

Based on Crawford, the assault was a violation of worldwide requirements.

“We have been with two civilian political activists when our small group of 5 was tracked, focused and fired upon by regime forces helped by Russian airpower as they bombarded Al Behavior city within the countryside of Idlib,” Crawford’s article learn.

A ceasefire, brokered by Russia and Turkey final 12 months, is meant to be in place, which means Al Behavior needs to be a battle-free space. Crawford stated the demilitarized zone had been breached a number of occasions. Idlib is the final insurgent stronghold in Syria.
