An op-ed printed in USA At present has been broadly criticized for arguing that Sen. Kamala Harris’ gun possession is a “disqualifying” subject precluding her from being elected president.
USA At present opinion contributor Peter Funt stated the California Democrat “apparently thinks it’s tremendous to personal a handgun for private security,” which he insisted was a “place held by the NRA, not progressive Democrats” and that her gun possession is a “under-publicized revelation.”
“Her phrases are tremendous, however for a progressive like me, they’re undermined by that handgun. And I can not be the one one who’s disturbed. Conserving a handgun for private security is a bedrock conservative view. The perfect protection towards a ‘unhealthy man with a gun,’ the NRA falsely argues, is ‘a great man with a gun,’” Funt wrote.
Funt appeared to take subject with Harris’s reasoning behind buying a gun, through which she stated that as a profession prosecutor she handled “harmful criminals” and she or he “felt compelled to have a gun.”
“Kamala Harris doesn’t appear to have the braveness to concede that proudly owning a handgun for defense is a foul concept,” Funt continued. “As an alternative, she has given voters an actual selection: Again candidates who care sufficient about gun management to not personal handguns, or assist the one main Democratic contender who has one and will not throw it away.”
