VALTTERI BOTTAS clinched his first victory for Mercedes after winning the Russian Grand Prix.

The Finn, who joined from Williams for this season, held off a late charge from Sebastian Vettel to win in Sochi.

His team-mate Lewis Hamilton, though, was forced to settle for fourth place as he missed out on the podium on a frustrating weekend.

That meant Hamilton lost more ground on Vettel in the title race while the other Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen came in third.
