Should you’ve been scrolling by means of social media for the previous two days, you’ll’ve seen a Toyota Vios with a toll gate barrier piercing by means of the entrance window. Identical to you and this author, netizens can’t assist however marvel how this occurred.
Well, according to The Star and Kwong Wah, this incident took place at the Sungai Dua toll plaza in Butterworth on Sunday (19th May) morning. It is understood that the Toyota Vios was driven by a 26-year-old man who was heading towards Sungai Petani at 7.50am. He overshot a little and crashed into the barrier at the fourth toll booth.
The driver then reversed the car, and that’s when the barrier suddenly pierced through the driver’s side window and gave everyone in the car a shock.

Luckily, no one was injured in this incident. The cops then took the driver’s statement at PLUS office in Sungai Dua and it was understood that the young driver was reckless and couldn’t apply brakes in time. He was subsequently slapped with a summons under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 for failing to exercise due control over movements of a vehicle.
Hopefully, the driver will be more careful in the future as things could’ve been way worse if he hit the concrete barrier. Drive safe, guys!
