You’ve be forgiven for mistaking Gillette Venus ambassador Pia Miller for the real-deal goddess during a recent jaunt of Sydney Harbour.
Standing at the bow of $16 million luxury yacht Ghost II with her mane billowing in the breeze, the Home and Away star was one of the star attractions at Procter & Gamble’s Tour of Beauty alongside face of Olay Jesinta Franklin (nee Campbell).
Franklin, 26, who has racked up a number of ambassador roles since winning Miss Universe Australia in 2010, including David Jones and most recently Dior, surprised some this week by saying she has put her husband, Lance “Buddy” Franklin, ahead of pursuing an international career.
“The international modelling scene – it’s something I haven’t entertained the thought of much just because I’m a married woman now and my priorities and you know all my work commitments are here in Australia and my husband,” she said on this week’s The Morning Show.
“I think if an international career was something that I wanted, I probably wouldn’t have gotten married and I would’ve spent a lot of time over there because it takes a lot of hard work to crack it overseas.
“At the end of the day Bud’s going to be keeping me warm when I’m 80, not a career.”
Other notable faces indulging in some pampering on the seas were lifestyle influencers Lisa Clark and Helen Chik and beauty blogger Chloe Morello.
At the other end of the spectrum was the high-octane The Star Spectacular at Latitude Bar, The Star, that launched with a circus-style soiree complete with contortionists, magicians, burlesque dancers, stilt walkers and jugglers.
The Star’s ambassadors, Olympian Ian Thorpe, former Miss World Australia Erin Holland and Triple M’s Emma Freedman, mingled with other VIPs including Nova’s lovable rogues Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael “Wippa” Wipfli, lifestyle influencer Kyly Clarke, retired NRL star Braith Anasta and his pregnant partner, Rachael Lee.
South Sydney Rabbitohs star Tom Burgess also looked loved up at the event alongside his model girlfriend, Tahlia Giumelli, despite recently referring to her as “the third-best looking girl in Australia”.
Black Bar and Grill’s executive chef, Dany Karam, oversaw a canape menu of oysters, steak sashimi, crab croquette, charcoal grilled lobster tail and wagyu beef sliders washed down with espresso martinis, passion pop’d cocktails, Moet and a selection of Australian wine.
To launch their new pizza degustation menu, Jonathan Faro – with help from on-trend Coote Connex PR – threw an Italian-style VIP soiree at its newest restaurant, Society Di Catania in Potts Point,
A DJ spun the decks as guests, including Channel Nine’s Julie Snook, her boyfriend, The Wrong Girl actor Hugo Johnstone-Burt, and former The Bachelorette star Lana Jeavons-Fellows, helped themselves to wood fired pizzas washed down by Aperol Spritzs – our kind of party.
Unlike its Bondi store, it’s a bar, wine-room, cucina and pizzeria in one.
As seen on Sundays in The Sun-Herald’s S liftout.
