What happens when you miss the weight in boxing?
The weight the fighters are expected to fight is is determined in the contract, that both fighters sign.
At the weigh-in, both boxers are expected to fit within the specific parameters as stipulated in the contract.
Each weight division in the sport of boxing has a maximum weight for each class, so for example cruiserweights can’t weigh any more thasn 200lbs and the welterweight limit is 147lbs.
If a boxer fails to make the agreed weight at the weigh-in, any titles that he/she was fighting for could be pulled from the contest. The fight itself could be shelved, but this is not normally done.
The agreed weight is done to try and ensure there is not a huge weight difference in the actual fight.
