The tennis stars get suited and booted, and could show off their dance moves for glamorous end-of-tournament ball

THE Wimbledon tournament is nearly all over for another year, so that means it’s nearly time for the Wimbledon Champions Ball.

As is the tradition, the stars get suited and booted for the event following the end of the gruelling two-week tournament.

When is the Wimbledon Champions Ball?

The Wimbledon Champions Ball takes place on the Sunday night following the final day.

Last years event was at the Guildhall in London.

Do the men’s and ladies’ winners really have to dance?

In the past, yes that was the tradition, although they now get to decide if they want to or not.

Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams brought back the dance in 2015, when they hit the dance floor to Night Fever by the Bee Gees.

Djokovic said after they wowed on the floor: “It’s a tradition that had been a little bit forgotten.”

Will the dance be brought back this year?

It is looking very much so! Garbine Muguruza, who won the Ladies’ title has already said she would like to, though would rather the winner of the men’s final be Swiss Master Roger Federer than Marin Cilic.

Asked who she would like to dance with, Muguruza said it would have to be Federer, to see if he was as “elegant” at dancing than he is at tennis.

“Roger,” she said. “And I like Cilic, I have to say seriously. But I want to see if Roger is elegant at dancing also!”
