The powerful Spain ace won the French Open last year, and won her second Grand Slam title by dominating Venus Williams at this year’s Wimbledon.
Who is Garbine Muguruza?
Muguruza was born in Caracas, Venezuela on October 8, 1993.
Her father is Spanish and her mother is from Venezuela.
At the age of three she started playing tennis, and moved to Spain with her family in 1999 when she was six.
She has dual Venezualan-Spanish nationality.
What has Garbine Muguruza won?
Muguruza has won two Gland Slam titles, following her dominant triumph over Venus Williams at this year’s Wimbledon.
She won her first Grand Slam in 2016, when she defeated Serena Williams to secure the title at Rolland Garros.
Other than that, Muguruza finished as runner-up at Wimbledon in 2015, losing that final to Serena.
Her best Australian Open finish was the quarter-final this year, and her best US Open finish was the second round.
What is Garbine Muguruza’s world ranking?
Muguraz is currently ranked 14th, although this will change next week after her Wimbledon success.
Her highest ranking was No 2 from June 2016.
