The 41-year-old has hit the headlines after allegedly being pulled over for driving erratically in Eton, Berkshire
KIRSTY Gallacher has been in the entertainment industry for almost 20 years – and she’s become the poster girl of Sky Sports News.
But the 41-year-old has hit the headlines after being charged with drink-driving. Here’s the lowdown on the TV star…
Who is Kirsty Gallacher?
Kirsty Gallacher is a television presenter who has worked for Sky Sports since 1998.
The news anchor has an extensive depth of knowledge of the sport as her father Bernard Gallacher captained Europe to win the 1995 Ryder Cup.
She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on January 20 1976, and moved to Virginia Water in England, Surrey when she was 18 months old due to her father’s golfing career.
She was married to former England Rugby Union international Paul Sampson from 2010 to 2015, with the couple having two children – Oscar and Jude.
The Sun exclusively revealed that earlier this year she was involved in a six-month relationship with Laurence Fox – the Lewis actor who divorced from Billie Piper in 2016.
Gallacher is a keen supporter of Hibernian FC.
She has become well-known for her healthy lifestyle and fitness regime, discussing her work-out plan in a series of interviews about keeping in shape.
Why didn’t Kirsty Gallacher present the 2017 Masters?
Despite presenting live from Augusta in recent years, Kirsty was replaced for this year’s edition as Sky cannot afford to send her to America.
According to the Daily Mail, Sky Sports News can’t justify sending the 41-year-old to cover the golf, despite spending £11million PER MATCH for Premier League fixtures.
Instead of reporting live from the studio, she instead went on holiday with her children after being upset about being snubbed.
What is Kirsty Gallacher famous for?
Kirsty Gallacher studied journalism and promotion at the London College of Fashion as she originally wanted to be a fashion journalist.
In 1998, she got her break as a presenter on Sky Sports News after working as a production assistant for two year from 1996.
Gallacher was a presenter on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, and also hosted her own Sky1 show Kirsty’s Home Videos from 2000-2004.
In 2005 she won the third series of the Channel 4 show The Games, where she would be a presenter on the following series.
She returned to be a presenter on Sky Sports News in 2011, and was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in the 2015 series where she was eliminated after week 6.
When was Kirsty Gallacher charged with drink driving?
Gallacher was charged with drink-driving after she was pulled over at 11.30am in Eton, Berkshire on Saturday August 12 while on the way to pick up her kids.
She was allegedly spotted driving erratically while on the way to collect her two sons from ex-husband Paul Sampson’s house.
Thames Valley Police said Gallacher has been bailed to appear at Slough Magistrates’ Court on September 4.
A spokesman said: “Kirsty Gallacher, aged 41, was charged last night with one count of driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level was above the legal limit.”
The presenter was said to have been on her way from her home in Virginia Water, Surrey, to pick up her children in Eton.
Hours before her arrest in Eton, Berks, Kirsty had posted a snap of herself enjoying a night out with pals at the Winning Post pub in nearby Winkfield.
A source said the presenter was “incredibly upset”, saying it was a “horrible experience”.
