LAWRENCE OKOLIE has made the transition from Olympics star to cruiserweight contender seamlessly since turning professional.
The 24-year-old signed with Matchroom in January after impressing at Rio 2016 and has since won two first round knockouts in as many fights.
Although he didn’t win a medal in Brazil in the summer, he caught the attention of the boxing world after knocking out Igor Pawel Jakubowski, before losing at the Round of 16 stage.

His promoter Eddie Hearn is targeting a rapid rise up the ranks for the Londoner as he looks to showcase his talents on bills across the country.
Here’s all you need to know about the star in the making.
Who is Lawrence Okolie?
Lawrence Okolie is a boxer competing in the cruiserweight, and was born in Hackney on December 16, 1992.
After watching Anthony Joshua win the gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics, Okolie ended up quitting his job at McDonald’s in order to achieve his dreams.
He was selected to represent Great Britain at the Rio 2016 Olympics – where he fought as a heavyweight, and lost to eventual bronze medallist Erislandy Savon from Cuba.
He stands at 6ft 5in and his reputation is already beginning to grow after a blistering start to his career in the paid ranks.
Who has Lawrence Okolie fought?
His first fight since signing with Matchroom was on the undercard Of Anthony Crolla vs Jorge Linares II at the Manchester Arena back in March.
His opponent was 33-year-old Geoffrey Cave who entered the ring with a record of zero wins and two losses, and lasted a mere 20 seconds after Okolie landed two brutal hooks to the head.
Next up was Poland’s Lukasz Rusiewicz who had just been stopped in 31 seconds by David Allen, but lasted significantly longer against Okolie – being knocked out after two-and-a-half minutes.
He was scheduled to fight Russell Henshaw on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Waldimir Klitschko.
But due to Wembley having a curfew of 11pm and the fight prior lasting longer than expected, the clash failed to happen.
Who is Lawrence Okolie fighting and where can I watch it?
He will finally get the chance to come up against Henshaw on the undercard of Kell Brook’s IBF welterweight defence against Errol Spence at Bramall Lane on Saturday, May 27.
The 32-year-old has notched up seven wins in 11 fights, losing four times where he has stopped two of his opponents.
