Who is Rachel Yankey?

Rachel Yankey is a former England forward who made 129 appearances for her country.

The 39-year-old retired in 2016 and was announced as a first team coach at WSL side London Bees in June 2018.

Despite only taking over at head coach in February this year, Yankey left the capital club three months later.

Yankey started her career at Arsenal before joining Fulham Birmingham and going abroad to New Jersey Wildcats.

After playing in America, Yankey came back to England to play for the Gunners.

She made over 190 appearances for Arsenal, winning nine FA Cups and eight league titles.

Yankey finished her career on loan at Notts County Ladies, where she made five appearances before being released by Arsenal at the end of her contract.

In 2007, Yankey was given an MBE in the 2006 New Year’s Honours before being awarded an OBE in the 2014 New Year’s Honours – both for services to football.
