KW: I was actually influenced by a few of my co-stars on Scandal to begin directing. The program was so historical in many methods regards to beginning, and altering the face of tv– however the only 2 stars on the program who ever directed in the beginning were our 2 white male leads, Tony Goldwyn and Scott Foley Shonda [Rhimes] asked me at an early stage– I think she was viewing dailies and heard me speaking to a few of the stars– she stated, “You know, I’d love for you to direct an episode.” But it took me a couple of seasons to have the guts to do it. I didn’t desire the program to end without taking that leap and ensuring that our tradition of actor-directors consisted of a more varied swimming pool.
E!: Do you connect to the sensation of being content about your achievements for about 6 minutes and after that it’s onto the next thing?
KW: I believe so. Part of it is, I’ve never ever been drawn to this work for distinctions. And I’m not stating that in a big-headed method, I believe the distinctions are unbelievable and I most likely must commemorate them more than I do. But the important things that brings me the most delight is the magic of the procedure, finding a story, finding out a method to have the story expose itself. For me I more seem like, “Look at us, we’re doing it!” when I’m on set at 6 a.m. on a Monday early morning and preparing my shot while the sun is increasing, attempting to make certain we exist simply at the best minute. That for me is, “Wow, look at where we are, this is so exciting!”
