Former heavyweight champion got the Wigan Warriors mixed up with NBA franchise Golden State Warriors on social media and was more than happy to join in the fun
WIGAN WARRIORS have confirmed trio Liam Farrell, Joel Tomkins and Taulima Tautai have signed new deals.
But the Super League champions took the unusual step by getting the new deals announced, by the “Real Deal” Evander Holyfield on social media.
The former undisputed heavyweight champion tweeted the Wigan Warriors instead of the Golden State Warriors, during the NBA Western Conference finals last week.

The Warriors saw a great marketing opportunity and the 54-year-old decided to join in the fun by exclusively revealing the trio had committed their futures at the DW Stadium.
Holyfield tweeted his 253,000 followers:”“I know I tweeted @wiganwarriorsrl in error on Sunday but this is no mistake. L Farrell, J Tomkins & T Tautai have all signed new contracts!”
England international Farrell, 26, has signed a five-year deal.
Tautai, 29, signed a three-year deal while Tomkins, 30, signed for two.
Warriors Communications Executive, Tim Fisher, said:“We do like to do things a little differently at Wigan, just last month we announced George Williams re-signing live on Facebook.
“We had a good chat about how we could go about announcing this great news to our fans and the wider world and that’s when Evander was mentioned by our General Rugby Manager, Kris Radlinski.
“Obviously we realise that Evander sent his tweet on Sunday in error but he saw the funny side of it and has engaged with us and Wigan fans several times this week.
