What’s one method to include more ladies in tech? Just photoshop them in.

An image in GQ recently revealed tech business owners throughout a see to designer Brunello Cucinelli in Italy, however the 2 ladies were Photoshopped in. The image has actually because been eliminated from GQ’s website and Cucinelli’s Instagram. BuzzFeed News previously reported the story.

The ladies who were contributed to the image were Sunrun CEO Lynn Jurich and Peek.com CEO Ruzwana Bashir. Both ladies tweeted about going to the journey, however they obviously weren’t around when the image was taken.

After some examination, BuzzFeed discovered an all-male variation of the image on LinkedIn published 2 weeks earlier by Ferdinando de Bellis, a partner at an interactions company that’s dealt with Cucinelli.

“When we realized we didn’t have a shot where all attendees were represented, we added in photos of two female CEOs taken during the weekend,” an agent for Cucinelli stated in a declaration. “The photos were shared and approved with all the participants including the two women, Lynn Jurich and Ruzwana Bashir, before posting them on Instagram and they also shared the group photo on their own Instagram handles. We meant no harm or had any malicious intent in doing this and we are sorry.”

GQ ran an upgrade note at the bottom of its story stating it got rid of the image, and an agent for the publication stated: “An image provided by a Brunello Cucinelli representative did not meet GQ’s editorial standards. The image had been altered and GQ was not made aware.”

The tech market, which is mostly white and male, has actually had a hard time to diversify its ranks. Women comprise simply 30 percent of the tech labor force, according to the Kapor Center, and they should compete with significant predispositions. It’s a concern that likely will not be fixed with a fast image edit.
