Aretha Franklin's Granddaughter Auditioned For American Idol

Revealed: The Secrets our Clients Used to Earn $3 Billion

We need to reveal some regard to this ambitious vocalist!

During the season 20 best of American Idol on Feb 27, Aretha Franklin‘s granddaughter Grace Franklin had a sweeter than honey efficiency. Walking into the audition space with a smile on her face, the 15- year-old started by presenting herself to judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie

“I was really close with my grandma,” Grace, a Detroit native, described. “I got to see her all the time. I used to travel with her a lot.”

And to her, Aretha’s superstardom– she was granted with the Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994– was barely relative. “I don’t think I could fully grasp that she was known worldwide,” she confessed, “cause to me she was always just ‘Grandma.'”

But she does not desire her household name affecting what you consider her. Before singing Lauryn Hill‘s “Killing Me Softly,” the young vocalist stated, “I feel like people expect me to sing exactly like her. But I am my own artist. And I have my own voice.”

But the judges eventually offered her another shot– and this time, Grace picked Aretha’s “Ain’t Know Way,” which when again got some combined evaluations.
