Bill Gates curated the MIT Technology Review’s 2019 10 Breakthrough Technologies list.

Cancer vaccines and smooth-talking AI assistants are all on Bill Gates’ list of innovations to look for.

The MIT Technology Review on Wednesday launched its 2019 10 Breakthrough Technologies list, which was curated by Gates. It was the publication’s very first time having a visitor editor select what would arrive at list.

“Bill’s list reflects his belief that we’re approaching a tipping point in humanity’s technological development — from technologies that mostly make life longer to those that mostly make it better,” stated Gideon Lichfield, editor-in-chief of the Review, in a release. “His choices highlight some of what he considers the most important challenges and opportunities of our time.”

Here are the 10 innovations, varying from environment modification to healthcare to expert system:

  • Robot mastery: robotic hands that can control unknown things by themselves.
  • New-wave nuclear power: both fission and blend reactor styles that can reduce carbon emissions.
  • Predicting preemies: a blood test that can caution of a preterm birth.
  • Gut probe in a tablet: a swallowable gadget that can reveal the digestion system and carry out biopsies.
  • Custom cancer vaccines: a treatment that assists the body’s own body immune system to target just growth cells.
  • The cow-free hamburger: plant-based and lab-grown meat options that might cut emissions from the food market.
  • Carbon dioxide catcher: methods for taking in CO2 from the air and locking it away.
  • An ECG on your wrist: smartwatch’s capability to keep track of somebody’s heart health and get early cautions of issues.
  • Sanitation without drains: a self-contained toilet that can deal with illness and undesirable living conditions.
  • Smooth-talking AI assistants: advances in natural language processing that make digital assistants efficient in more natural discussions.
