Bob Ross is understood simply as much for his striking hairstyle as he is for his landscapes.
The artist taught audiences about the happiness of painting up until his death in 1995 (and in the years beyond, thanks to the enduring tradition of his PBS art program). Now, fans are finding the happiness of an excellent throwback picture in the brand-new Netflix documentary about his life.
In one blink-and-you’ll- miss-it minute, the filmmakers shared an old picture of Ross in a white Tee shirts while sitting at a table. But what stood apart most was his slicked-back and cropped hairstyle, so really various from the signature perm he sported on his TELEVISION program, which ranged from 1983 to1994
Netflix even confessed on Twitter that “seeing Bob Ross without his signature curls and beard is one of the most shocking moments” in the documentary, Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & & Greed, which dropped onAug 25.
Some users were plainly blown away, with one writing, “God he looks so much better without that fro.” Another joked, “I refuse to believe this is the same person.”
