After Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving promoted an antisemitic movie and book on social networks Thursday, his group and team-owner Joe Tsai released declarations Friday condemning his actions.

“I’m disappointed that Kyrie appears to support a film based on a book full of anti-semitic disinformation,” Tsaiwrote on Twitter “I want to sit down and make sure he understands this is hurtful to all of us, and as a man of faith, it is wrong to promote hate based on race, ethnicity or religion.”

Irving published a tweet Thursday connecting to an Amazon page for the film “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America,” which is “stuffed with antisemitic tropes,” according to an earlier report from RollingStone The film was launched in 2018 and is based upon a 2015 book by the very same name.

Irving has not openly resolved his choice to promote the movie.

“The Brooklyn Nets strongly condemn and have no tolerance for the promotion of any form of hate speech,” the group stated in a declarationFriday “We believe that in these situations, our first action must be open, honest dialogue. We thank those, including the ADL (Anti-Defamation League), who have been supportive during this time.”

Irving’s post follows a series of antisemitic remarks made by Ye, the rap artist previously called Kanye West, in current weeks. Adidas, Gap, Foot Locker and other companies have actually because cut ties with Ye and cost him his billionaire status.

The Anti-Defamation League, StopAntisemistism and the International Legal Forum praised the relocation by Adidas on Tuesday.

Irving was formerly benched by the Nets in 2021 for declining to get immunized versus Covid-19 It is uncertain whether his social networks post will affect his capability to play.

The Nets will play the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night.
