Hip- hippo hooray: It’s a kid!
The Cincinnati Zoo exposed onAug 8 that Fiona the Hippo‘s latest brother or sister– born recently– is a kid calf. According to the marketing supervisor of the Cincinnati Zoo, Amy LaBarbara, it took a couple of days after birth for employee to find out the sex, as they wished to offer mama, Bibi, the area and quality time required with her latest arrival.
“Bibi was doing such a great job being a great mom,” Amy stated on the Today program. “So, they really didn’t want to interfere with that, they really wanted to let them bond.”
As for how the infant calf is doing after his very first couple of days? “He’s amazing,” Amy shared. “He’s so strong. Just staying right with his mom and doing everything we want a baby hippo to do. He’s swimming and just doing great.”
