Jill Biden employed Korean American celeb chef Edward Lee to include his unique style to the meal. Lee’s specialized is the crossway of American food with Korean tastes.

“Chef Lee creates meals that are both familiar and surprising,” she stated. “A fusion of different worlds that finds a perfect balance.”

The crabcake appetiser includes what Lee referred to as an upgraded coleslaw of cabbage, kohlrabi, fennel and cucumber topped with a vinaigrette used gochujang, a red chili paste, and a little bowl of yellow squash soup. The main dish, braised beef brief ribs topped with sorghum-glazed carrots are served atop a dollop of grits made from butter beans rather of dried corn.

Dessert is the deconstructed variation of a banana split, an American traditional, including lemon bar ice cream, caramelized bananas, fresh berries and mint ginger breeze cookie collapse sprinkled with a caramel sauce instilled with doenjang, a fermented soybean paste.

“I’ve wanted to take some of my favorite American foods and just, just tinker with it a little bit, and this is also how I cook in my restaurants. Just add a little bit of Korean touches to it,” Lee included. “It’s not traditional Korean food but just gives you a little hint of Korean flavors.”

Asked which meal was her preferred, the very first girl stated: “The first. It’s so American, the crabcake. But I love them all.” She forecasted that the president, who likes ice cream, would favor dessert.

“Joe’s favorite will be the last,” she stated.

Guests will be seated at a mix of round tables covered with light blue silk fabrics or elongate tables with teal plexiglass tops. Every table will be topped with an imposing 6-foot (1.8 meter)- high vase focal point filled with flowering cherry bloom branches, together with smaller sized plans of pink orchids and peonies. Azaleas, belonging to Korea, will embellish tables at a pre-dinner mixed drink reception.

Wednesday’s state supper will be the Biden administration’s 2nd. Biden’s very first state supper was held last December, honoring America’s relationship with France.
