Elon Musk can include a brand-new title to his resume: Guinness World Record holder.
The “Technoking” of Tesla made it into the record books thanks to an abysmal 2022 which saw his fortune diminish by $182 billion, the company revealed Friday in a release that mentioned information from Forbes.
Guinness kept in mind that although “the specific figure [of Musk’s loss] is nearly difficult to establish,” with some outlets approximating that he lost more than $200 billion, the Twitter owner destroyed the previous record: a $586 billion loss by Japanese financier Masayoshi Son in 2000.
Musk’s diminishing fortune was mainly due to the high slide of Tesla shares, which lost approximately 65% of their worth throughout the business’s worst year on record.
The loss sufficed to knock him off his perch as the wealthiest guy worldwide– a title now held by high-end products mogul Bernard Arnault.
Of course, Musk isn’t the only billionaire whose fortune took a hit in2022 American billionaires jointly lost $660 billion in 2015, CNBC Make It formerly reported.
