The European Commission, the executive arm of the European Union, on Wednesday released an examination into aids offered to electrical lorry makers in China, according to President Ursula von der Leyen.

Speaking at her yearly State of the Union address at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, she stated the commission is introducing an “anti-subsidy investigation into electric vehicles coming from China.”

“Europe is open to competition. Not for a race to the bottom,” she stated.

Autos stocks in Europe were greater by 1.2% on Wednesday early morning after the statement, in a mainly down day for many sectors.
